About our Fleet of Vehicles

Aspen Logistic Services offer horse and 30 pallet reefer combinations for long-haul projects, while the short haul vehicles range from 8 ton, 14 ton rigid and 24 ton horse and reefer combinations. Our truck tractors are standardised Freightliners, part of the Daimler AG group, with CAT 515 and Detriot engines, and the trailers are PPECB approved, which means it has been certified by the Perishable Products Export Control Board to safely export perishable products.
Our trailer builders have embarked on a number of environmentally friendly initiatives in their factories. We operate Thermoking SLX refrigeration units which have made enormous strides in reducing CO2 emissions as well as reducing fuel consumption and reduced noise pollution. Environmental awareness is encouraged with our staff, facilitated through paper collections, bottle banks, centralised printers and on-going environmentally friendly awareness memorandums.

We operate a 24 hour operations room where our vehicles are monitored on a constant basis.

Fleet Management and Maintenance

Our replacement policy for Horses is 5 years, and 8 years for our trailers. All our vehicles are fitted with a sophisticated tracking and fleet management system.
We subscribe to "Driver Check" which is a toll free line that handles all our 24 hour on-road complaints from general public road users. Our workshop is one of few selected Daimler Chrysler accredited workshops in the country so all maintenance is done in-house reducing standing time, better cost control and improved utilisation. We also have a consignment store for spare parts. The automated wash- bay facility is out-sourced to a small enterprise and runs 24 hours on the ASPEN premises.
This results in energy and water saving as we harvest and re-cycle rain water. An automated wash bay postively effects operational efficiencies by improving our turnaround time. Fleet availability increases thereby reducing the number of vehicles required in our operation.
FUEL is supplied by a national supplier ENGEN via an on road card management system. All our Taut-Liner trailers are fitted with a protective wire mesh on the curtains as well as a unique locking system for the straps. Our driver training in partnership with Mercedes (Driver trainer programme) focuses on economical driving to achieve leading standards in vehicle and driver performance. We currently have the Mix Telematics, DataTim and Fleet Board platforms to manage our fleet. Our Pre Trip Inspection Bay - modelled around the GAUTRAIN bus depot which is widely considered a World Class Depot. We have built a full inspection line that includes equipment for brake testing and axel play detector. This inturn enhances our leading safety standards and efficient time management.
Our future plan is to have an accredited testing station which will become an additional revenue stream for the business.
